Getting to know Allie

Allie just had her heartworm treatment last week, and is starting to show her personality. She is not a very active dog, but she loves going for walks, and sticks her head up and sniffs the air. she has a very thoughtful, dreamy look in her eyes constantly, and loves getting her ears scratched! She is still a little shy and shies away from loud or sudden movements, but she is trusting of people, and usually her want for attention gets the better of her shyness. She loves being outside, and will sometimes go over to the glass door and just stare outside, looking to see whats going on in the backyard. The first picture is from her 2nd day here, when she was still very shy, the second picture is from after a week here, in her bed. (i had just given her a treat) =]

Allie's Life Saved - From the Shelter to Her Foster Home

Meet Allie. She is a super sweet small hound/beagle mix. She's only about 40 lbs - she is not very leggy but a little long.

Allie has a really great personality. She's coyly shy at first but within seconds, she's wagging her tail and smiling. Allie is about 3 years old and calm. She hasn't been around young children yet but we'd be surprised if she wasn't great with kids as she is so gentle.

Allie gets along with other dogs and cats. Allie walks well on the leash and she's making progress on her housetraining. Allie was rescued from a high kill shelter in rural VA. She is now living in a foster home in northern VA.

Come back for more updates as we get to know more about her.
